Here is an interesting and timely article about a growing problem for older Americans’ accessibility to affordable dental care that caught our eye this past week. We are all aware of the health problems this can create for these people in need. Several of our esteemed Clinical Team members are on staff at Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry, which has opened it’s various student clinics to help meet these dental needs.
Without regular and proper care, seniors face myriad risks, including decay, periodontal disease and the loss of natural permanent teeth, said Dr. Helena Tapias-Perdigon,assistant professor at Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas who specializes in geriatric dentistry.
The treatment cost at these student clinics is 30-40% less than what is charged at private dental offices giving these seniors more access to care. Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry has stepped up to the plate to help these seniors and we applaud them!
